All I ever say is "I'm alive and well, busy but still around."

Not to disappoint, but that's pretty much what's going on. I'm alive and well. I'm busy. I'm still around.

Writing a weekly column at www.thetvaddict.com. It's called "My Take on TV" and it goes up live every Tuesday. I'm in the process of writing column 8 (been doing this for two months - time has really flown by!!!!!) I LOVE IT!

Hello hello!!!!

I have been ridiculously absent these days!!!! What is new? Wow...not really a lot, which might signify that my life is too boring for an update haha...

What has been happening? Been going to the movies a lot with Jules lately. I work 9-5, work out 5-8, watch TV for the site from 8-11, and then sleep. At least the working out has been helping; i'm down 30 lbs since January 9!!!!!!! It's so exciting :) I love having to buy new pants because my old ones don't fit!! My goal is actually another 30, but I'm not sure how that's going to go!

I'm still too shocked for words to describe my feelings about the Oscars (Crash was good, but Brokeback was amazing, and to me, Amazing ranks higher than Good), Edgar's demise (I didn't see it coming, and I was bawling!!!!), and Bode Miller's embarrassing performances (good lord, he's a shame...ha)...What else is new? Loving that The Amazing Race is back. And not boring this time around!!

I was very sad to see Chloe win Project Runway. I'm a huge Daniel V fan, so that sucked....What else what else?

Going to California this summer for my cousin's wedding. Hope to be comfortable prancing around on the beach ha...

I wish I could say that my life was a lot more exciting than it is ha...

In other news, I'm actually excited to see how Alias ends it's 5 year run. 8 brand new episodes start in April. Since Michael Vartan is back for 6 of them, and Bradley Cooper (didn't know he was in Failure to Launch. Love him in the movie, didn't LOVE the movie...Zooey Deschanel is hilarious too) is back for 1, it can't be all bad!!!

I am the worst Xanga subscriber....I haven't posted in almost a month. Wow...

Sadly, not much is happening ha...I FINALLY got my car back on Friday (If you recall, the accident my sister had was on December 19). Almost 2 months later, I'm back in the Saturn. It's so nice haha...

NoSleep - I have been slacking on my 24 play-by-plays! Apologies ha...Jack Bauer is the awesome-ist mother f*****r around. Ha, that's all that we need say!

Oscar noms - I'm really completely satisfied by who was nominated. Jake Gyllenhaal, I'd watch him in anything. Now, whenever any network airs "Bubble Boy", they have to say, if saying "starring Jake Gyllenhaal" to say "starring Academy Award Nominee Jake Gyllenhaal." HA! I love it. Same thing with "10 Things I Hate About You" and Heath Ledger....and "Dawson's Creek" reruns? They can totally abuse the "starring Academy Award Nominee Michelle Williams" to get some syndication ratings haha....

I know I'm talking only about Brokeback, but I'm totally thrilled with all of the "Crash" nominations too. I love that movie!

I'd like to take this opportunity to say "FOX, you are dead to me, except for Monday nights.....Airing the final 4 Arrested Developments against the one thing that the entire world watches? THE FREAKING OPENING CEREMONY OF THE OLYMPICS? You so didn't deserve this freaking fabulous show....Mitchell Hurwitz, PLEASE take Showtime's two season offer!! PLEASE!"

PS I loved "Underworld: Evolution". It was worth seeing on the big screen. My award winner for best use of a helicopter propeller...

Also, to Dawn Ostroff, UPN's current president, and the defacto pres of the new CW network, starting this fall. Here's how your line up should look:

Sunday - Charmed? It seems to keep holding on...Maybe Related will get the okay? Maybe the new Bedford Diaries or Pepper Dennis? Maybe Everwood goes here, and not where I put it (on Tuesday....)

Monday - the UPN comedies, like Girlfriends, Eve, Everybody Hates Chris, etc, or like Reba, Living with Fran, What I Like About You stuff....They'll do well enough, and since everyone will be watching another network on Mondays anyway, it won't hurt you too bad.

Tuesday - Gilmore Girls at 8, Veronica Mars at 9, Everwood at 10 (VM and Everwood could totally be switched, because then Rob Thomas and co. can get a little darker...), or maybe Pepper Dennis becomes one of the "Girl TV" nights that Tuesday could be marketed as....

Wednesday - America's Next Top Model at 8, One Tree Hill at 9, Something new maybe at 10?

Thursday - Smallville at 8, the new Aquaman at 9, Supernatural at 10

Friday - Either WB's Friday night shows, or UPN's current Monday night shows? Kind of whatever you don't put on Monday....I'm thinking the Seventh Heaven spin off they're considering?

Saturday nights - reruns of previously aired shows, etc...

And finally, before I go -

Veronica Mars kicks ass this season. I'm hardly watching Lost - it's a "tape it and watch it a few days later" kind of show now....Now, I tape Bones at 9, and watch that immediately following VM. I love David Boreanaz now (sorry Jules, I know you have this thing against him haha)!

Sorry I haven't been around much lately. Working 9-5 instead of 8-4 really threw off my system.

Um, my car is finally going to be fixed after Mary's accident. I'll have it back on Friday.

Weather in Lansdale is sucking majorly.

John and I were getting along famously for a while (the best friend/asshole....), but now we're not talking for no real reason.
I'm obsessed with "Brokeback Mountain" the short story. (the movie's amazing too, and Jake Gyllenhaal better get the freaking Oscar nom that Heath and Michelle are sure to receive, but I find myself reading and rereading the story and crying everytime.) Love it.
I'm obsessed also with "A Crime in the Neighborhood" by Suzanne Berne which I'm considering optioning as a screenplay once I save up enough money.
Tristan and Isolde with Jules tonight. James Franco is in my new "Interview" magazine and I just love him. He's so James Dean it's not even funny.
The Backyardigans are the greatest little creatures ever invented.
Phil of the Future is the new Even Stevens - LOVE IT!
OH crap! 24 is back tomorrow. This should be bullet number 1, but I just don't feel like deleting and replacing, and well, this is important, so there ya go, it's bolded! :)

ETA: Go see Brokeback Mountain NOW! Drop whatever you are doing, and go see it. Heath Ledger - gorgeous AND talented. Jake Gyllenhaal - gorgeous AND talented! It's a really beautiful film - PHENOMENAL! Beautiful. Cried a bit at the end. Wow...

Bless me friends, for I have sinned - it has been 2 weeks since my last blog entry...

I've been ridiculously busy at work, and then I feel like doing nothing but fulfilling my Fantasy Teevee obligations at night.

Tonight, however, I bring you Amrie's top 10s -

Top 10 Shows of 2005 (in no order, because I believe I like all 10 equally...well, #8 might be the best....)-

1. Veronica Mars - as if you even had to worry that I wouldn't include it. Smart writing, great acting (by most actors...Tessa Thompson...Teddy Dunn - I suggest you take some lessons...). I'd watch a rerun of this show before I'd watch a new episode of most critically acclaimed dramas on TV. Kristen Bell and Jason Dohring have the chemistry of, dare I say it, Buffy and Spike (or if you prefer I go this way - Buffy and Angel), or perhaps going back even further...Kelly and Dylan? HA!

2. 24 - sure, one has to suspend some belief to watch this show and believe that Tony could live like a minute away from the random fire-fight that Jack decided to have - the only show for which I refrain from checking spoilers, I cannot wait to be on the edge of my seat every episode; I love feeling like I'm going to tear my hair out waiting for the next episode.....And also...Kiefer is phenomenal!

3. Rescue Me - for me to buy Denis Leary as a dramatic actor is one thing, but for me to constantly feel for his character when he's put through ridiculous situations, including, but not limited to, many conversations with Jesus, it's amazing. It's often tagged by many as the second-best FX show, next to Nip/Tuck, but I think it surpasses it's predecessor in quality and enjoyment. Plus, did I mention how adorable Michael Lombardi (Probie) is??? ADORABLE.

4. Lost - yes, they've had some missteps (hiring Michele Rodriguez being the cardinal sin of sophomore season agony), but this show is constantly surprising me. I love it - probably will for however long it goes on, even if it decides to jump the Dharma-fin tattoed shark...

5. Everwood - for a show to bring me to tears every single time I watch it - perfection. Few people give the gang from Everwood enough credit - there's humour, and drama, and angst, like real human angst, for which you don't need to suspend belief in anyway. It's a wonderful family drama that gets better every single time it's on TV.

6. Gilmore Girls - I will forgive the Girls for the study-tree episode of Season 4, because Season 5 rebounded with a resounding thud, and brought us the first signs that perhaps Rory Gilmore isn't the perfect little person she was always thought to be. Why the Emmy voters/Golden Globe voters/any voters ever have not nom'd Lauren Graham for anything just makes me cringe!

7. Scrubs - The NBC big-wigs are a bunch of bastardpeople for f-ing with this phenomenal show. First they move it all over the place, never giving it a steady home, and then they pull it, promising a big premiere at midseason - only to overshadow the promotions it should be getting with advertisements for the Ricky Gervais-less Office.

8. Arrested Development - BEST FREAKING SHOW EVER. Best cast on TV. Phenomenal writing, directing, inside jokes, narration, adlibbing, you name it I'll go on all day....I seriously love every minute of every episode of this show - if FOX does decide to go "you're officially cancelled" and Showtime nabs it up, I'll be the first in line to sign up for digital cable, because I cannot live without the Bluths.

9. How I Met Your Mother - the best thing about this four camera sitcom is that it DOESN'T TRY TOO HARD. NPH is phenomenal as one of the sleeziest but most loveable characters (in one of the best comebacks of the year) and the rest of the cast honestly adds great weight to the comedy. Yes, there are the typical bad-humour jokes that you might see on, say, The War at Home, but the show is so intelligently written, and acted, that you forget those cheesy jokes, and find yourself trying to phone-five with people when you end a telephone call.

10. House - the misanthrope and his cottages. I love this show (special thanks to Julie for getting me addicted). There is nothing about it I would change - House's interactions with people are what the hospital-tv-world needed. He's not startlingly beautiful, he doesn't make bedroom eyes with his patients, he just lives his life as a drug-addicted-asshole that works because he has to, and not because he has an outright passion for his job. It's wonderfully written, and casts guest stars in out-of-character roles that make them work really hard!

Honorable Mentions: Without a Trace (this show was SO close to replacing House as a top ten show! Like so close as I type this sentence, I'm considering pulling the switcheroo!), Grey's Anatomy, Prison Break, Invasion, Nip/Tuck, Project Runway, The Amazing Race (not family edition, though I loved the Linzes), The O.C. (my guilty pleasure), 7th Heaven.....(if you buy that, I'll sell you another - I can't wait for it to be gone!)

Top 10 characters of 2005 (not necessarily from the above mentioned shows)

1. Logan Echolls (okay, it's from #1 up above, but seriously....no list is complete without him...) from Veronica Mars- in the beginning I didn't believe that Jason Dohring could pull it off, and make this complete asshole the guy that fans were rooting for. I didn't know him well enough as an actor to believe that he could, with one line, get me hooked. But by episode 6 of Season 1, I was completely and utterly addicted to him. He only got better with the rest of the first season, and is more and more phenomenal as Season 2 goes on. I will officially believe him in anything.

2. Michael Schofield from Prison Break - He is beautiful. He is loyal to family. He is able to make a freaking prison doctor fall for him. He's incredibly flawed, and at times lacks moral center, but he is the best find of the new season. He's sort of the Jack Bauer for the newer crowd.

3. George Michael Bluth from Arrested Development - I could have easily picked any of the characters from this quirky ensemble, but I find myself laughing hysterically for Michael Cera's delivery of all of his lines. Best ever? "Oh what a fun sexy time for you". Anyone that can make everything out of his mouth sound equally frightened and enlightened, it's a gift.

4. Summer Roberts from The O.C. - sometimes the show goes a little above and beyond reality, but Rachel Bilson manages to have fun with the absurdity, and, at the same time, ground the rest of the show. Though this character was originally only written as a guest star, I can't imagine my guilty pleasure TV show without Summer.

5. Jack Bauer from 24 - The one and only reason that I believe that every single thing that happens on this show can happen? Kiefer Sutherland's Jack Bauer. He is flawed, and imperfect, and not morally grounded, but he is warm, and wonderful, and loving all at the same time. If Jack Bauer's next mission takes him to the moon, I'm so there.

6. Jack Malone from Without a Trace - He is such a screw up. I find that I fall for the most screwed up characters of all - his true love is the mistress that ruined his marriage and is the reason his kids live in Chicago, and not NY with him. He is an ass to people that love him, and he often times treats his team of agents like shit. But he's awesome. He's a bad ass and people know not to fuck with Jack Malone. I love it.

7. George O'Malley from Grey's Anatomy - he, in my opinion, is the dreamboat from the show. Sure, Patrick Dempsey's rebirth, if you will, is great, and he sure is pretty, but there's something about George. Funny, charming, so caring, so loving, so incredibly awkward, and nervous - he's the best damn doctor on the show. Love him.

8. Emily Gilmore from Gilmore Girls - there are two scenes that catapulted her to this list from the rest of the characters on TV - the scene where she rips Pacey's deflowerer a new one, for treating her grand-daughter like shit, and the scene on the jet she's purchasing where she realizes that she screwed everything up. Kelly Bishop acts the shit out of this character, and makes this grating society-lady, who is the very bane of Lorelai's existance, the most lovable at the same time....I want to be Emily Gilmore - she doesn't take any shit from anyone.

9. Marshall from How I Met Your Mother - Barney (NPH) gets all the credit, but there's something downright awesome to the comedic delivery that Jason Segal has. He makes pirate costumes even more funny than they should be, and leads me to believe that all people should have sword fights over who is going to keep the apartment....Plus, his love for Lily? Perfection!

10. Tommy Gavin from Rescue Me - completely flawed, screwed up, crazy, insane, you name a bad name, and he's deserving. Denis Leary makes you want to rescue Tommy - he makes you feel for this complete asshole that is ruining all of the lives around him, one by one. It's almost like, as a viewer, you believe that everyone is screwing him up, and he's done nothing wrong. Tommy Gavin is like that one person you know that you want to help fix, but who believes he doesn't need fixing until everything around him is broken and only then will he call out for help.

Honorable mentions: The entire cast of Arrested Development; From Veronica Mars -Veronica Mars herself, Keith Mars, Wallace Fennell; From Grey's Anatomy - Dr. Cristina Yang, Dr. Alex Karev; The entire cast of How I Met Your Mother; From 24, Tony Almeida, Michelle Dessler, Chloe O'Brien, Dina Araz; From Prison Break, T-bag, John Abruzzi, Warden Pope; From Alias, Sydney Bristow and Jack Bristow because they believe so fully in what they're doing that they make you almost want to care again....From 7th Heaven, wow....even typing that is painful...HA

I've been really busy.

While I'm here, let's take a moment to beg the people at ABC and Showtime to get serious about taking on the Bluth clan. One of those networks could be the home to Arrested Development come next season!

While I'm on the subject of entertainment - I kind of love the Golden Globe noms; at the same time, I hate them....Wentworth Miller, you dog, taking a best lead actor nod! Go 'head (pronounced Gawhead) TV-felon! GGs I hate you for hating Veronica and Lauren Graham. The end.

Jules and I saw The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe, and can I just tell you? BLOWN AWAY. It was phenomenal. Go see it. LOTS OF TIMES!!!

Can't wait to see Brokeback Mountain! It's being so well-received and reviewed. So amazing.

The answers! :)

1. Moonlight Mile - This is by far my favorite Jake movie. I don't know why, but it's absolutely phenomenal! Plus it stars a before-Grey's-Anatomy Ellen Pompeo back in the days when she used to actually eat.

2. In America - In just typing that, I get a little teary. The movie is SO good and Samantha Morton, Paddy Considine, their two movie daughters, and Djimon Honsou are all REALLY good.

3. Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind - It blows me away everytime I watch it. Jim Carrey is AMAZING in this film. He didn't try too hard (like he sometimes does) to get the part just right and it works.

4. Donnie Darko - I've now seen the movie 11 times, and everytime I notice something different and fall in love with it a little more.

5. Home Alone - I have this movie memorized. I love it.

6. Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory - I have this movie memorized, too. It's my default movie; when I'm looking at my DVD collection and can't make a decision about what to watch, I always end up with this!

7. Happy Endings - My San Francisco movie; it's so good. Everyone is great in this movie, even Tom Arnold. Definitely a must see!

8. Waiting For Guffman - It was so hard to pick my favorite Christopher Guest/Eugene Levy movie, but I went with WFG because it's the beginning of the "trilogy" and it's, in my opinion, the least reaching-for-laughs, it's just pure funny.

9. Girl With a Pearl Earring - There is something ridiculously beautiful about this film. It's my favorite Scarlett Johanssen movie. I was moved to tears at the end because of the beauty of the film and the delivery of Scarlett and Colin Firth. Blown away.

10. LABYRINTH - You can't go wrong with a movie about the Goblin King...David Bowie in the tightest little pants...HA

It's lovely to catch up with old friends. I love going out with Amanda, Mike, and John Quinn (yes, it needs to be said as his full name). Insane that Amanda and I have been friends since we were like 8, when we banded together with Frank as the three left handed gifted kids ha. Wow. Time flies.

Dear writers of Seasons 3-5 of Alias (Season 1 and 2 writers, you are excluded because you were the shit, dudes...):

You did this to yourself. If you thought killing Francie, getting rid of Will, losing Lena because you wouldn't put the money out, adding FREAKING Lauren, adding Nadia, making Sloane bad then good then bad, killing Vaughn, add Rachel Gibson/Nichols who is Syd!Lite, and Tom Grace/Balt Getty, Vaughn!Lite over the course of 2.25 seasons was going to be the BEST thing for your show? Wow...You did this to yourself.

RIP Alias. It's about freaking time ABC admitted that they were through "trusting" JJ and his writers, because the writers were all about being big disappointments.

At least ABC is giving you the rest of the season. They didn't kick you to the curb like FOX did to a certain other show....
